Deltapine® cotton is pleased to announce Lockney FFA as the winner of the FFA West Texas Cotton Video Contest. Lockney FFA produced and promoted a video highlighting the importance of cotton yield and the impact cotton farming has on their community. The contest brought together area cotton gins and local FFA chapters and was sponsored by Deltapine cotton, which will make a $2,500 donation to the Lockney FFA chapter.

Ten different West Texas FFA chapters submitted videos to the contest. Winners were selected by factoring in the number of online votes and Facebook® “Likes” each video received, along with judging from a group of Deltapine representatives. Videos were judged based on the chapter’s effectiveness in discussing the importance of high yields and the impact that the cotton industry has on their community. Donations will also be made to the four other chapters that complete the top five. The final results were:
• 1st Place: Lockney FFA- $2,500
• 2nd Place: Plainview FFA- $1,500
• 3rd Place: Wellman-Union FFA- $1,000
• 4th Place: Plains FFA- $1,000
• 5th Place: Floydada FFA- $1,000

The winning videos, as well as the other five entries, are available for viewing online by visiting www.cottonvideocontest.com.

“Deltapine brand cotton is proud to support FFA in Texas,” said Dallan Maas, Area Business Manager for Deltapine. “We appreciate the effort that all of the chapters put into their videos. Each chapter did an outstanding job communicating their willingness to learn more about the cotton industry. We know that the donations will be put to good use in the schools and communities in West Texas.”

The contest was open to chapters in FFA Area I and Area II in West Texas and included a video contest for students and a sweepstakes for cotton growers which will result in up to$10,000 in combined cash donations to West Texas FFA chapters.
