From cotton fields to wind turbines Lubbock, Texas, can be noted as the place where Texas agriculture and western heritage meet. Ranging from Texas Tech University to the Buddy Holly Center, this city has something for everyone! However, over the next five days this Hub City will be remembered not only by its attractions, but for the power that thousands FFA members and supporters will bring to the Texas South Plains as we hold the 83rd Annual Texas FFA Convention, presented by Justin Boots and Farm Credit!
While in Lubbock we will show the power within our organization and recognize the achievements of those members who, through hard work and dedication, represent excellence in agricultural education. We will celebrate Texas FFA’s recent history-making accomplishment of developing student potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success for more than 81,000 FFA members and 7,000 Junior FFA members across the state making Texas FFA the largest state association in the nation! We will also honor more than 1,500 students for their Supervised Agriculture Experiences and FFA related accomplishments, as well as award almost $2 million in scholarships. Most importantly, throughout this convention we will have the opportunity to grow as individuals by meeting new friends, attending workshops, listening to motivational speakers and setting goals for the 2011-2012 school year.
This convention will mark the beginning of a commitment by each of us to find “The Power Within” ourselves and realize that we have the power to leave this world better than we found it. We will return to our chapters and communities knowing that “what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
Welcome to the 83rd annual Texas FFA Convention and thank you for the amazing opportunity to serve you as your 2010-2011 Texas FFA Officer Team!
