A banquet honoring the class of 2012 Ford Leadership Scholars was held on Tuesday, January 3, in Austin, Texas. Scholars, their parents & mentors, advisors, agricultural education state staff, representatives of Ford Motor Company, FFA Foundation and Association board members, among others, attended the banquet to honor the achievements of these students.
The events of the day included a display of the Ford Scholar projects and a banquet held in the Austin Downtown Sheraton Hotel.
The Ford Leadership Scholars showcased their projects through exhibit-style booths in the Terrace room of the Capitol Sheraton Hotel. Ford representatives, mentors, parents and special guests toured the exhibits asking the students questions about their projects one-on-one. Students were able to explain their projects in detail from the planning stages to execution.
Following the project showcase, the evening’s activities continued with the banquet. During the banquet, the Ford Leadership Scholars recognized their mentors by presenting each mentor with a gift. Then, the scholars were recognized one final time as they received their “diplomas” stating their completion of the 2011 Ford Leadership Scholars Program. Following their recognition, the Director of the Texas FFA Foundation Aaron Alejandro shared remarks with the group, congratulating the Class of 2011 Texas FFA Ford Leadership Scholars.
