Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Todd Staples has a divine passion for agriculture and the FFA. He dedicates his life to agriculture and supports the morals and beliefs of the FFA organization. Staples realized from an early age that what is deep in your heart will define what you do with your life.

Staples graduated from Palestine High School where he was an active member of Palestine FFA and served as a vice president of the Texas A&M Collegiate FFA Chapter. He attended Texas A&M University majoring in Agriculture Economics. Staples was elected as Commissioner in 2006 and assumed office on Jan. 1, 2007.

Staples’ love of agriculture has only increased throughout the years. Staples’ speech carried the theme of, “I want to know what is deep in your heart,” in reference to the recent film “Deep in the Heart.” Staples believes the movie represents overcoming adversity and the concept of making something out of your life.

“The reason Texas is what it is today is because of what is in the heart of Texas. I want to know what is deep in your heart,” Staples said.
