Texas FFA hosted a canned food drive to thank Corpus Christi for all that the town had done for the organization. Cans of food were collected by FFA members all over the state and donated to the local food bank of Corpus Christi.

Erynee Treptow of the Weimer FFA chapter founded the Canned Food Drive nine years ago when she was a member of the FFA. She is handing over her position as head of the program to Macey Moeckel who is also from the Weimer FFA chapter.

“I thought this was the best way to give back to the community that is always giving to us,” Treptow said.

These two have been organizing this years can drive since the week before state convention. They also passed around containers to voting delegates during sessions all day on Thursday and have raised more than $1,500. To put that into perspective, $1 can equal up to 17 meals.

These two Weimer FFA members have raised “living to serve” to a new level for others all over the state. They hope to continue this program into the future with even more success.
