It’s the word that describes the 2012-13 Texas FFA State Officer Team and their attitude toward their year of serving the organization.
“Although we come from different places, we have similar goals and hopes for the organization,” Jackie Lee, Area VI state vice president from Mineola, explained. “And by working together, we can accomplish our goals and continue to impact those we meet along the way.”
The officer team bonded during BLAST Off, the first of several trainings to prepare for their year of service.
“The conference focuses on personal and team development, so they can move forward as a strong team to serve the members of our Association,” said Texas FFA Leadership Development Coordinator Austin Large.
Throughout the training, the officers set their goals for the year. One of those goals includes visiting 400 schools, 75 more schools than the previous years.
Also, the officer team met with Jerry Reeves of BASF, who sponsors the BLAST Off program for the National FFA Organization.
“Our team dynamic is strong, which will help us accomplish our goals and grow together,” said Jordan Bien, Area VIII state vice president from Brownsboro.
BLAST Off, which took place in Austin, Texas, consists of personal and team workshops conducted by Riley Pagett, former National FFA president from Oklahoma. While in Austin, the officers also volunteered at the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas.
