Austin - Molly Dutton of Iowa Park, Texas, recently joined the Texas FFA Foundation as the summer intern and will play an integral role at the 85th annual Texas FFA State Convention. As the Foundation intern, Dutton will be on location in Dallas, Texas, representing the Texas FFA Foundation at the largest youth led convention in Texas with approximately 11,000 members and guests estimated to attend.
Dutton is a junior at Texas A&M University majoring in agricultural leadership and development with a minor in poultry science. She is active in several organizations on campus including Aggie Reps, the Poultry Science Club and Farmers Fight, an agricultural advocacy group.
Throughout high school, Dutton was active in the FFA on the local and state level. She was a member of the inaugural class of Texas FFA Ford Leadership Scholars, FFA Ambassadors, served as an Area IV Officer, Iowa Park FFA President and competed on numerous Leadership Development Event teams. Dutton was also a member of the 2010 State Champion Entomology team and exhibited lambs, goats, pigs and rabbits.
“Molly’s dynamic FFA background and proven leadership abilities are a real fit for the Foundation intern’s role in planning and coordinating with the Host Committee on the 85th annual Texas FFA State Convention,” said Texas FFA Foundation Executive Director Aaron Alejandro. “Molly demonstrates true servant leadership and compliments the efforts of staff and sponsors in serving our teachers and members.”
FFA and agricultural education provide premier leadership opportunities, experiential learning and promote academic excellence through a rigorous curriculum combined with practical application and developing relationships.
“FFA has made me into the person I am today - professionally and personally,” Dutton explained. “I was blessed to have people who invested their time in me. I’m like a patchwork quilt. Each person who has inspired me has tacked on their piece of cloth to help make me who I am today. In return, I strive to reach as many FFA members as possible and help them achieve their goals.”
As the summer intern, Dutton will assist the Texas FFA Foundation and the Texas FFA Association with convention planning and execution.
