Imagine having 60 seconds to make the best possible impression to more than 9,000 FFA members. Of 10 possible candidates, four were selected for the state president runoff.
With the delegates chanting for their respective area’s incoming officers, the room was far from quiet. Bryce Winfrey of Area II and the Seminole FFA Chapter, Ryon Cox of Area VI and the Mount Pleasant FFA Chapter, Shelby Eckhardt of Area VII and the Seguin FFA Chapter and Heidi Ritter of Area III and the Huffman FFA Chapter were selected for the runoff.
In order of candidate number, each officer delivered a one-minute speech to convince the delegates to vote for them as the 2013-2014 Texas FFA State
The candidates selected as Texas FFA State President and Texas State First Vice President will be a part of the Texas FFA Travel Team and will visit hundreds of chapters statewide, as well as attend the State Presidents’ Conference in Washington, D.C., along with other state organizations’ travel teams.
The president will be elected during tomorrow’s eighth general session, and will close the 85th annual Texas FFA State Convention and will lead the 2014 Convention set for July 15-18 in Fort Worth.
