As we close the book on 2013 and start to write a new one, now is the time to reflect on the past and plan for the future. What a year 2013 has been for Texas FFA members! We have competed in stock shows, CDEs, reached 100,000 members, had an awesome state convention in Dallas and are now winding down with LDEs. No matter how your competitions or projects turned out I hope you learned something along the way that will make you a better person. I also hope that you pay it forward to other members to make Texas FFA even better.
We as FFA members have so many opportunities to participate. I hope you will make it your resolution in 2014 to get involved and get out of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to compete in a speaking event or run for an office. Maybe you want to try out for the livestock judging team or show a market lamb. . . Go for it! If you are already involved, try something new, and encourage other members to join you. I have met so many people through the Texas FFA that I consider lifelong friends and you can do the same. FFA is about opportunities, realizing who you are and your potential in life, and having a lot of fun along the way!
A favorite bible verse of mine is Mathew 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Texas FFA I challenge you to get out there and make 2014 the best year ever. Go where you have never been before and knock on that door because you never know what is waiting behind it!
