Greetings Texas FFA!
It seems like just yesterday you all received your schedule for the upcoming year. You might be the freshman looking at that piece of paper that seemed to tell you where you would need to be, when even though you had no idea where that was. Or you were the experienced sophomore having just enough school under your belt to make you look like you know what you’re doing. Maybe you are the hopeful junior who knows exactly what they want to do and where they want to go but you still have barely two years to finish up. Or maybe you are finally the senior who’s ready to approach whatever comes your way and do whatever it takes to get out of high school and into the real world.
Whoever you are, I am here telling you right now, slow down. Take a breath and look at everything around you, why? Believe it or not it will all be gone in a flash and you won’t be able to relive those precious years. Sooner or later you’ll be thrown into the big see of adults and you’ll be wishing just to look at that schedule again trying to feel the butterflies you had on your first day.
Just think about it! We’ve just finished up our LDE’s and have moved on to our CDE’s and maybe some of us have presented your projects at major stock shows such as, the State Fair of Texas, Fort Worth or San Antonio; maybe you’re getting ready for shows to come. You could be getting ready to make a difference in your FFA community by running for that local office. You know what? Do it!!
Don’t let the fear of the unknown frighten you from achieving your dreams! Each and every one of us are meant to do something spectacular, we just have to begin the journey to figure out what it might be, but while on that journey don’t forget to slow down and soak in the moment because its the memories that you make on your journey that determine who you are and what you’ll do in the future. I can’t wait to see you all at the 86th Annual Texas FFA Convention! Get ready, cause it’ll be legendary!
Start your journey,
