Meeting deadlines, long nights and fighting writers block, the Convention Media staff gives their all to provide the members of Texas FFA with up-to-date news at the 86th Annual Convention.

Throughout the convention, the staff works with FFA employees to create an interactive experience for the members. By interviewing diverse groups, the reporters are able to cover all aspects of the convention and make sure the members and guests are informed.

While working the convention, the media staff has the opportunity to gain knowledge and create something great from the very beginning; the end results can be very rewarding.

“It’s invaluable to be published as teenagers, especially if you’re looking in to going into communications or journalism,” said Ashley Dunkerley, Texas FFA Communications Coordinator, who is in charge of the Convention Media Staff.

The convention media has made a positive influence on not only those who are reading it, but also the people making it.

“It’s fun to be around the staff and I really benefit from learning more about writing articles,” said Hannah Sharkey, Bland FFA member and reporter.

The Convention Media application is posted on Texas FFA’s website annually around the beginning of March. It’s available to any Texas FFA member who wishes to apply. There are several different jobs within the staff including editors, reporters, photographers, layout designers and videographers.

Whether you apply for experience or apply to do something new, the members of the 2014 Convention Media Staff recommend that you send in an application for next year.
