The 2010 – 2011 Texas FFA Officer Team spent Friday, December 10th, traveling through San Marcos and San Antonio. Their tour falls in conjunction with the San Antonio Spurs FFA Night. The team visited a corporate sponsor, FFA chapter, FFA members and even a Spurs player.

Corporate Sponsor Visit – McCoy’s

On Friday morning, the officer visited the corporate headquarters of one of our very own Texas FFA corporate sponsors – McCoy’s Building Supply.

The officers toured McCoy’s new corporate building located in San Marcos, Texas. The tour was led by Meagan McCoy Jones, Director of Field Support for McCoy’s, and Andrew O’Banon, Farm & Ranch Program Buyer.

The officers asked questions about the business, learned the history of the McCoy’s corporation, and ended their trip with some useful advice about college and career choices from Brian McCoy, President and CEO of McCoy’s Building Supply.

Visit to James Madison High School

Following their visit with McCoy’s, the officer team headed to James Madison FFA in San Antonio. James Madison FFA is one of the larger FFA chapters in the state and nation with more than 340 members. They started construction a few years ago on a $24.6 million education complex. The complex will be finished this February.

The officers enjoyed wearing hard-hats as they toured the soon-to-be opened facility.

San Antonio Spurs FFA Night

The officers finished their tour with the 6th Annual Spurs FFA Night. Thanks to long-time friend of the FFA, David Ainsworth, the officers were able to watch the Spurs game from luxury ledge box seats! Patrick Byrne, the State Vice President from Area X, served as the team co-captain, fulfilling a life-long dream. Calan Ahrens, State Vice President from Area II, and Will Ellis, State Vice President from Area VIII, were team “Super-fans” and watched pre-game from special seats on the court.

After passing out Spurs night t-shirts to FFA members in the foyer, the team made their way to the ledge box seats and enjoyed a nice warm meal during the game. The Spurs have never lost a game on FFA night, and on Friday, December 10th, they were once again victorious. That is six FFA night victories for the Spurs.

Following the game, the team along with many other FFA members visited with spurs player George Hill. A great ending to a great tour.

A special thanks goes to McCoy’s Building Supply, James Madison FFA, and the San Antonio Spurs.
