The “Earning Leadership In Texas Elections (E.L.I.T.E.)” Leadership Camp, hosted by the Area III Association, was held on January 7, 2011 in conjunction with the Area III Mid-Winter Ag Teacher’s Convention, for students who plan to pursue an FFA leadership position.
Students arrived at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, decked out in official dress. At 8:30 a.m., the official opening session began. Afterward, FFA members chose four of seven workshops to attend. Finally, students had the opportunity to ask questions to their area officers at the Q&A forum.

Prior to the Leadership camp, Area III Officers met several times to develop curriculum they felt would be most relevant for today’s aspiring FFA leader.
Cody Scarborough, District VI officer from Angleton, Texas, said he thinks students will benefit from attending the ELITE Leadership Camp.
“Everyone has areas that can use fine-tuning,” Scarborough said. He added, “I’m always trying to perfect my public speaking.”
By using interactive games in a unique, professional setting, Scarborough hoped to pass knowledge on to students that could be used in their future as an officer.
